Letting Agent / Landlord Authorisation Form

We can only accept a form completed by a letting agent, if we are provided with their details and written confirmation that the Owner/Leaseholder authorises them to act on their behalf.

 

I own my property and I’d like to rent it out, what do I need to do?

If you own your property and have decided to rent it to new tenants and you would like us to send bills to the new tenant, you will need to complete a change of tenancy form as soon as possible. If you do not inform us of this change the bills will continue to be addressed to you. If any bills issued in your name are for the period of the tenancy a charge of £4.95 will be required to cancel and reissue in the tenant’s name. This will be charge to your (the owners) account.

The first step is to request a New/Change of Tenancy Notification form, by emailing email support@lighthouse-energy.co.uk

When the Change of tenancy form is completed and received by the Lighthouse team we will send a Welcome Pack to the tenant (including a direct debit mandate) and will issue bills to them during the period of their tenancy.

The Customer Supply Agreement between you and your energy suppliers remains in place. You will continue to be responsible for all heat consumption and standing charges in the event your tenant does not pay their bill or during any periods of non-occupancy. Our preferred method of payment by a new tenant is direct debit. However, you may wish to have a pre-payment meter installed so that your tenant pays for all variable and standing charges through this system. Please be aware that there is a cost associated with this and prices are available on request.

We recommend that you take independent legal advice from a solicitor when you put your occupancy / tenancy agreement in place to enable you to recover sums relating to utility supplies from your tenant through your tenancy agreement.

Please note that if you are renting your property through a management or letting agent and you would like the agent to act on your behalf you must provide their details to us by emailing support@lighthouse-energy.co.uk together with written confirmation from you that you authorise them to act on your behalf.

Change of tenancy form

If you are an Owner or Leaseholder and intend to rent out your property, you will need to use this form so we can start billing the new tenant for the standing charge and heat consumption at the property. Please contact billing@lighthouse-energy.co.uk and the team will send you the appropriate form.

It should also be used if there is a change in tenant.

If we are not notified, we will continue to bill you as the Owner or Leaseholder for the heat consumption and standing charge and you will remain liable for making payment.

Completed forms must be sent to billing@lighthouse-energy.co.uk within 5 working days of the tenant moving in to the property.

Please note that bills which have already been issued in the Owner/Leaseholder’s name will NOT be amended. Therefore, please ensure we receive the tenant’s details as soon as they occupy the property.
